Ali Haidar

Ali Haidar is a graduate student at the University of Detroit Mercy in Detroit, Michigan pursuing a master's degree in clinical mental health counseling. Haidar completed his undergraduate studies at the University of Michigan, Dearborn, earning a bachelor of art in sociology with a minor in psychology. Haidar is an Arab-American and has quadriplegic cerebral palsy. Despite his physical limitations, Haidar has excelled in his studies and continues to do so. He has participated in public health outreach during the COVID pandemic, volunteered at local non-profit organizations that host individuals with disabilities, and has recently been accepted as a member of his university ethics debate team. Haidar describes the silver lining of the COVID-19 pandemic that opened new venues allowing easier access to telemedicine and mental health services. Haidar looks forward to practicing mental health counseling with his clients both in person and from his own fully equipped home office.
