Chelsea Allen is a doctoral candidate at Columbia University’s School of Social Work. Her present research employs interdisciplinary perspectives and mixed methods to examine how Black women leverage emerging technologies (e.g., social media and virtual reality) to center self-care, wellness, and collective healing. Allen's scholarship also seeks to conceptualize collective trauma, as it results from social oppression, and situates its role in reproducing health and social disparities amongst historically marginalized communities. She is a licensed clinical social worker and received her MSW and BSW from the University of South Carolina.
