Carrera is a first-generation Latina student born in Quito, Ecuador. She attended the University of Scranton for her undergraduate studies from August 2018 to May 2022, majoring in psychology and minoring in counseling and human services. At Scranton she was accepted into the Honors program where she completed a thesis with Dr. Christie Karpiak. The thesis investigated student’s perception of microaggressions from authoritative and nonauthoritative individuals. After graduating from the University of Scranton, Carrera enrolled in the University of Oregon to pursue a master's degree in school psychology. At Oregon, she has worked supporting Latine first-generation undergraduate students, assisted in various research projects, and is the vice president of the association of school psychology students. Some ways she has supported projects is by coding Spanish speaking parent child interactions, attending lab meetings, and translated English forms into Spanish. Claire served as a practicum student at Springfield Public Schools and is completing her internship at Denver Public Schools at a bilingual and MIA elementary school.
