Deborah Healy, PsyD, LP

Deborah Healy, PsyD, LP, is a professor of psychology at Our Lady of the Lake University (OLLU). Healy is the chair of the department of psychology at OLLU and the training director of the OLLU APA-accredited PsyD program in counseling psychology. She is a Texas licensed psychologist, licensed professional counselor, and TEA certified school counselor. Healy retired from The Northside Independent School District (NISD) where she worked from 1986 to 2014 serving students as a classroom teacher, reading specialist, school counselor, and director of counseling services for NISD. She was also the director of the federally funded Safe Schools/Healthy Students grant in NISD, which brought prevention and intervention services to more than 100,000 NISD students.


Healy is an SBIRT and mental health first aid trainer. Her interests include working with children, teens, and families from strengths-based, systemic, and narrative therapy perspectives. Healy presented at the Diversity Challenge Conference of Boston College in October 2020 and had a book chapter released focused on working with students and families from strengths-based perspectives.
