Erin Alexander, PhD

Erin Alexander, PsyD, is a psychology and psychiatry program director for Illinois Department of Children and Family Services. With more than 20 years of clinical service, leadership experience, and continued professional development, Alexander has held positions as a therapist, adjunct professor, supervisor, trainer, consultant, and professional mentor. Throughout her career Alexander has had a focus on increasing access to quality mental health services for people of color, creating trauma-informed systems, and training the next generation of mental health professionals.


Alexander currently has a thriving practice in downtown Chicago where she works with a diverse group of individuals and couples. In addition to her clinical practice and leadership roles, Alexander offers organizational consultation with an emphasis on identifying and operationalizing sustainable diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives. Alexander is an active member of APA and the Illinois Psychological Association (IPA). She is founder and chair of IPA’s Section for Ethnic Minority Affairs.


Alexander currently serves as APA’s Committee of State Leaders Diversity Liaison, where she works to ensure that the needs and priorities of diverse psychologists are addressed during APA’s annual Practice Leadership Conference.
