Gary Kwok, PhD

Gary Kwok, PhD is currently an assistant member of the Hackensack Meridian Center for Discovery and Innovation (CDI). He received his PhD in Social Work from Adelphi University in 2020. Kwok's goal as a behavioral scientist is to conduct high-quality research to serve underrepresented populations with a specific focus on developing and translating effective and scalable interventions for vulnerable communities. He is especially interested in developing culturally sensitive psychosocial interventions to improve both health and quality of life outcomes among Asian Americans (AA). For example, AAs are at risk for lower sleep duration and poorer sleep quality as they are risk factors for diabetes. He is interested in developing a culturally adapted Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I), an evidence-based intervention, to address these disparities among AAs. In addition, Kwok is interested in leveraging digital technology as a convenient and scalable medium to deliver interventions with a specific focus on improving user engagement.
