Hector Chaidez Ruacho

Hector Chaidez Ruacho, LCSW is a doctoral student at the University of Texas at Austin. He holds a Master of Social Work degree from the University at Buffalo. After completing his MSW, Hector was admitted to the competitive fellowship at the Yale School of Medicine's Child Study Center. There, he received additional training and clinical supervision to best serve Spanish-speaking families. During his time there, Hector also obtained his clinical social work license and was trained in various evidence-based practices, including trauma-specific and family-based interventions.


Hector's research focuses on improving mental health access and utilization among the Latine Immigrant population. He is interested in developing culturally adapted interventions that incorporate Latine healing practices. Hector's goal is to obtain an academic position where he can contribute to training the next generation of Spanish-speaking social workers. 


As an immigrant and coming from a multigenerational migrant farm worker family, Hector recognizes the importance of working together to create a better mental health system. He believes that everyone needs the right tools and a community willing to work together. Therefore, he is excited to be part of the IMFP community.
