Jean Kesnold Mesidor, PhD

Mesidor is a clinical assistant professor at the Florida State University College of Medicine (FSUCOM), Department of Behavioral Sciences and Social Medicine, Immokalee Health Education Site. He earned his BS in psychology from Belhaven University, his MS in mental health counseling from Mississippi College, and his PhD in clinical psychology at Jackson State University. He completed his predoctoral internship at Broughton Hospital and his postdoctoral fellowship in clinical health psychology with a focus on primary care at Florida State University College of Medicine. In 2017, Mesidor joined the faculty in the Department of Behavioral Sciences and Social Medicine at FSUCOM. He provides behavioral health services particularly to underserved and rural populations in the Family Medicine and Internal Medicine Department at Healthcare Network. He also provides clinical supervision to FSUCOM psychology postdoctoral fellows within the family and internal medicine department. His clinical and research interests mainly focus on Haitian mental health, chronic disease management (type 2 diabetes) with low literacy populations, and the psychological impact of trauma on health. Mesidor is a member of Association of Psychologists in Academic Health Centers Diversity and Disparities Committee. He received the FSUCOM Clinical Health Psychology Postdoctoral Fellowship Mission Service Award in 2017.
