Denis is a third-year doctoral student in the Clinical Psychology program at Loyola University Chicago. Denis received their bachelor's degree in psychology from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. followed by her master's of professional studies in clinical psychological science from the University of Maryland, College Park. During her time at the University of Maryland, Denis worked in the Center for Early Childhood Education and Intervention on a school-based intervention targeting early childhood trauma and its impact on learning and socioemotional development in young children. Currently, Denis works in the RISE lab at Loyola University Chicago and their research focuses on LGBTQIA+ identity development and explores strengths and positive psychological factors associated with joy and thriving in Black LGBTQIA+ folx. Denis is interested in working in a clinical capacity with diverse populations, especially QTPOC and other minoritized groups. Denis’ research and clinical work are meant to inform the development of culturally responsive mental health interventions for QTPOC.
