Kenneth I. Maynard, PhD, FAHA is currently director of global program team effectiveness at Takeda Pharmaceuticals, Inc. He has worked in the pharmaceutical industry for the past 21 years with increasing roles of responsibility. He has led cross-functional, global teams in neuroscience drug discovery, clinical development, external innovation, portfolio strategy for neurology and psychiatry indications, and more recently, he has led global teams in pharmacovigilance. Prior to working in pharma, Maynard was an academic neuroscientist researcher (stroke and cerebrovascular pathophysiology) and assistant professor in surgery (neurosurgery) at Massachusetts General Hospital, and neuroscience tutor at Harvard Medical School. His undergraduate, master's, and doctorate in neurobiology were attained at the University of London, University College. With more than 50 scientific publications, Maynard has served as a reviewer for several peer-reviewed, international neuroscience journals. He is a fellow of the American Heart Association (FAHA), a councilor of the Society for Neuroscience, and serves on several advisory boards, including the Society for Neuroscience Council, Worcester Polytechnic Institute's College of Arts & Sciences, the National Institute of Nervous Disorders and Stroke (NINDS), and the University of Washington’s NINDS-funded program titled, Broadening the Representation of Academic Investigators in NeuroScience (BRAINS). He previously served on the National Institute of Mental Health Neuropsychopharmacology Taskforce, the NIH Director’s Program on Broadening Experiences in Scientific Training, and the National Academies of Sciences Committee on the Next Generation of Biomedical and Behavioral Sciences Researchers. Maynard is a certified coach, speaker, and trainer with the John Maxwell Team. As CEO of Career and Corporate Coaching LLC, he coaches academics and professionals in leadership and management, career advancement, development, and transitions.
