Dr. Maynard is currently Director of Global Program Teams Effectiveness at Takeda Pharmaceuticals, Inc. where his work focuses on fulfilling his vision to have Takeda Pharmaceuticals become known as a global pharmaceutical company with industry-leading global program drug development teams, led by outstanding global program leaders.
Over the past 30+ years he personally mentored and coached scores of academic and corporate professionals who are currently in successful and fulfilling careers in academia and beyond. In addition, he served on several boards and chaired committees focused on professional development and training of academic and non-academic scholars with national impact. These include:
Current relevant committee activity includes serving on the advisory boards of Broadening the Representation of Academic Investigators in NeuroScience (BRAINS), University of Seattle, Washington and the College of Arts and Sciences, Worcester Polytechnic Institute, Worcester, Massachusetts. He is also a founding board member of the Scholarship to Enhance and Empower Diversity program which is supported by the American Psychological Foundation, where he serves as a career and grant-writing coach/mentor since 2021.
In 2016, Dr. Maynard became a certified coach, speaker and trainer with the “John Maxwell Team”, recently renamed “Maxwell Leadership”. Since then, as CEO of Career and Corporate Coaching LLC, he has been coaching academics and professionals, including scholars from the American Psychological Association (APA), in leadership and career advancement and development, specializing in those clients seeking or undergoing career transitions. In addition to coaching individual academic and corporate scholars and professionals, Dr. Maynard created and runs the Leadership Development Program for the APA, now in its third year.
