Leinys Santos-Báez, MD is a physician-scientist passionate about the behavioral influences on obesity, glucose, and lipid metabolism. She received her MD degree from Universidad Autónoma de Santo Domingo in 2010 and completed an internship in a general medicine practice in an underserved area in the Dominican Republic. She joined a T32 arteriosclerosis training program in 2019, where she learned various methods to assess lipid and lipoprotein metabolism. Leveraging her clinical and research experience, her current research is focused on studying the impact of time-restricted eating on energy balance and fat mass in older adults with prediabetes or type 2 diabetes. She is specifically focused on the insulin-signaling pathway of fatty acids as a potential marker of improved insulin sensitivity and its downstream effects on lipid metabolism and inflammatory markers.
