Hearns is the owner and CEO of two companies. The first is a nonprofit organization, The Hearns & Oliver Foundation. The mission of this charitable organization is, "To redefine 'Community,' creating a sense of unity with the sole purpose of giving back to less fortunate children and families." The Foundation partnered with the Paterson Task Force, which assists women and children in transition from homeless shelters. Hearns has organized multiple Foundation fundraisers annually, including bowling, paint and sip, and skating outings, and the Christmas toy drive, which fulfills wish lists for 10 families in need per year. The second is a private practice: Epic Therapy and Counseling Services, serving individuals, couples, and families with a focus on relationships, anxiety, family dynamics, trauma, and life transitions. Hearns also utilizes this platform to provide psychoeducation and raise awareness. Hearns prides himself and his work on breaking the cycle, uplifting and supporting the following generations, as well as advocating and sharing information prudent to growth, learning, and leadership.

Hearns is currently affiliated with the NASW and NSLS to help further his personal vision and mission statements.
