Lisette Jacobson, PhD, MPA, MA

Lisette Jacobson, PhD, MPA, MA, is a tenured associate professor in the department of population health at the University of Kansas (KU) School of Medicine-Wichita. As a public health-based community psychologist, Jacobson blends biomedical and psychosocial approaches to improve population health in rural and urban areas. Her research focuses on women’s health, particularly as it relates to risk and protective factors during the reproductive years and their impact on women’s cardiovascular health including breastfeeding, diabetes, physical activity, nutrition, and maternal weight.


Jacobson has secured extramural funding from national, state, and regional organizations. She has served as chair of the KU School of Medicine’s research committee and continues serving as an at-large delegate at the KU School of Medicine’s faculty council. She also serves on other committees and organizations, including the Master of Public Health Admissions Committee, Kansas Breastfeeding Coalition, and the Wichita Area Breastfeeding Coalition. Prior to her career in academia, she was a successful human resources and public finance manager in the public and private sectors for more than 10 years.
