Meilani Roan

Meilani Roan (she/her) is a first-generation college student in third year of the counseling psychology doctoral program at BYU. In 2021, Meilani graduated with her bachelor’s degree from Utah State University in Integrated Studies with an emphasis on Social Sciences & Human Services. Her research interest focuses on understanding the cultural stigma around mental health in Pacific Islander populations and finding culturally appropriate ways to better support them. As a clinician, Meilani is also passionate about serving College students and women as well as advocating for and supporting individuals who have been impacted by intergenerational trauma and abuse. With this opportunity, Meilani hopes to continue to develop skills and acquire knowledge that will help her to give back to communities she loves and to pursue her goals as a future psychologist.
