The Psychology Summer Institute offers a unique opportunity for advanced doctoral students and early-career psychologists to enhance their skills and make a positive impact serving underrepresented ethnic and racial minority populations through research or service.
Participants work with experienced mentors to develop projects such as grant proposals, postdoctoral fellowships, dissertations, treatment programs, publications, or program evaluations that address critical issues faced by these communities.
PSI provides a supportive environment for professional growth and networking, empowering participants to advance their careers while driving meaningful change.
Format/Location:
Week-long intensive program held in Washington, DC with seminars, mentoring, and time to further develop projects. PSI typically begins with an evening reception on Sunday and ends with a closing reception the following Saturday.

Travel support to Washington, DC
Late-stage psychology doctoral students who have successfully proposed a dissertation before the application deadline, postdoctoral trainees, or psychologists who have received a doctorate within the last ten years. Due to federal funding, approximately 50% of available slots are reserved for U.S. citizens, non-citizen nationals of the United States, and permanent residents prior to the submission of the application.
Applications for the 2025 cohort will be open early next year.
Being able to stay connected with some of the program faculty and participants has been invaluable to me. I continue to obtain mentorship from the some of the faculty from the program and am also collaborating on a project with one of the participants from my year.
