Rabia Brown

Rabia Brown is a rising fourth-year doctoral student in the University of Maryland’s Counseling Psychology Program. She obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology with a Minor in Leadership Studies from the illustrious Hampton University, a Historically Black College/University. Rabia’s involvement in leadership is reflected in her role as the Vice President of the Black Graduate Student Union. Additionally, while serving as a university instructor, Rabia is intentional about promoting cultural history and equity in her classroom. Rabia also worked in various clinical settings, where she gained experience working with college students, LGBTQ+ individuals, and other marginalized groups such as Women of Color and Black children. Rabia’s clinical interests are focused on serving marginalized communities, especially Black and Brown youth and Black women. Rabia is passionate about utilizing radical healing to help clients deal with identity-based trauma. She is especially interested in assisting clients with cultural stressors, such as racial microaggressions, racial trauma, misogyny, colorism, and gendered racism. Regarding her research focus, she is interested in racial microaggressions, racial trauma, and mental health among Black youth and emerging adults. She aspires to create a nurturing environment where Black individuals can share their stories and embark on journeys of healing.
