Brooks is a clinical professor and senior associate dean for health professions and faculty affairs in the College of Nursing and Health Professions at Drexel University. Over her 25 years at Drexel she has held numerous administrative positions in the department of couple and family therapy and is former department chair and interim program director for the couple and family therapy PhD program.
Brooks is a clinical fellow and approved supervisor in the American Association for Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT) and from 2015–20 the executive program consultant for the AAMFT Minority Fellowship Program. She is a site visitor for the Commission on Accreditation for Marriage and Family Therapy Education and former commissioner. Brooks’ clinical and scholarly interests include: marriage and family therapy education, supervision and training, diversity, race and social justice, Person of the Therapist training, working with couples and families coping with ADHD, substance use and misuse, depression, and trauma. She recently coedited a book entitled, The Opioid Epidemic: Medical, Nursing, Counseling and Behavioral Treatments. Brooks is a licensed clinical social worker and licensed marriage and family therapist and maintains a private practice in Philadelphia.
