Susan D. Brown, PhD, is a clinical psychologist and tenured associate professor of internal medicine at the University of California, Davis School of Medicine. Brown’s research focuses on theory-driven behavioral interventions to promote health equity and prevent diabetes and cardiovascular disease, particularly in high-risk maternal populations. Continuously funded since 2014, her work specifically targets patient engagement in lifestyle behaviors, preventive health care services, and clinical research itself, such as strategies to improve minority representation in randomized clinical trials. She is dedicated to supporting early-stage investigators, including those from historically underrepresented groups.
