Tracie Augusta, PhD, DNP

Tracie Augusta, PhD, DNP is an assistant professor at the University of Memphis Loewenberg College of Nursing with a tenure-track position. She was an adjunct graduate faculty member during the Spring 2011 to Fall 2022 academic year. She became the first PhD in Nursing Science graduate from the Loewenberg College of Nursing in Spring 2023. Moreover, she earned a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree from the University of Tennessee Health Science Center, where she specialized as an acute care nurse practitioner. Nursing education was the focus of her master's degree in nursing. Her current research focuses on hypertension, kidney disease, social determinants of health, and health equity in African Americans. To heal holistically, mind, body, and spirit must be aligned. It is this philosophy that Augusta adheres to. According to her, a holistic approach to healing is essential for human health. She aims to address health disparities among African Americans by researching and advocating on their behalf in these areas. In addition, she holds certifications as a family nurse practitioner and a clinical nurse specialist in adult health.
