Zeemal Zubair

Zeemal Zubair completed her bachelor of arts in business administration with a minor in marketing from University of Hertfordshire, United Kingdom. She also completed a master of science degree in clinical psychology from Texas A&M University Commerce, Texas. Zubair is now pursuing her doctoral degree in counseling psychology at Our Lady of the Lake University, San Antonio, Texas with an emphasis in health psychology. Her area of interest revolves around the concept of inclusion, diversity, equity and accessibility (IDEA) in mental health and to reduce health disparities. Zubair is also interested in diversity and multicultural counseling for racial/ethnic minorities (especially Asian/Asian American, Arab/Arab American) with different immigration statuses, racial stigma, exploring psychotherapy and assessments related to racial/ethnic minorities with disabilities, exploring culturally competent/attuned therapy modalities (especially strength-based approaches) and assessments for minorities with co-occurring disorders, exploring psychotherapy and assessments related to racial/ethnic minority geriatric populations with mental/co-occurring disorders, health psychology related counseling and assessment for racial/ethnic minorities and navigating the process of using interpretation services for racial/ethnic clients in therapeutic settings. Zubair plans to provide pro-bono or reduced-cost counseling to underserved/uninsured community members in the future.
